Tokyo Con East Los, Puros Discos is a place to get lost and fall in love with Chicano culture and music all over again. The event is 21+ and begins at 9. SHIN MIYATA :
Founder of BARRIO GOLD RECORDS / MUSIC CAMP, Inc., based in Tokyo. In 1985, captivated by Chicano culture, he lived in East LA. After returning to Japan, he was in charge of marketing for overseas artists at BMG JAPAN, while also writing about Chicano culture for numerous magazines since the late 1980s. In particular, he was responsible for the column "Que Pasa Aztlan," which introduced Chicano culture in LOWRIDER MAGAZINE JAPAN, from its inception to its final issue for 16 years, influencing many young people. In 1999, he became independent and started a record label and promoter specializing in Chicano music. To date, he has sold a vast number of works in Japan with Japanese liner notes. He has also organized Japanese tours for artists such as JOE BATAAN, CHICANO BATMAN, EL HARU KUROI, MEZKLAH, BRAINSTORY, BOBBY OROZA, FLOR DE TOROACHE, OMAR SOSA, and THEE MARLOES. In addition to Chicano music, he has been collecting records of Soul Jazz and Salsa for over 40 years.
